Juliet Capulet

If Juliet were to come to ASA Clark, she probably wouldn't be seen as such a special person.  She was known for her forbidden love and how she was a rebel and didn't do as she was told when it comes to love. Now a days, it’s not that different. It is still dramatic, but not as much. Lots of kids now act like rebels. They don't listen, some don't have much respect for others and they act like they don't care what people think of them.

Juliet said that she fell in love with Romeo at first sight, now if she were to say that now, people wouldn't believe her. They would think that she is just going through a faze, and will say she never loved him tomorrow. Even though Juliet truly did love Romeo, she wouldn't be taken seriously. People now say the "I love you" words a lot more often than they should. Some people don't even mean it when they say it. It's interesting on what people will say or do to feel loved by many.

By Juliet going behind her families back and dating Romeo, is one way that she would actually fit in. Most kids now are rebels, or at least that’s what they think. They don’t listen to their parents when it comes to things. Juliet would have been one of the 'cool' kids because of how disobedient she was when it came to her loving someone that her family has bad history with.

With her suicidal act, she would also fit in; as bad as that sounds. People now are killing themselves left and right. Whether its bullying, family problems, and some only do it for the attention. Juliet did it for love. Which in my eyes is stupid, but yet again its not. Its cute to know she loved him so much, but it's stupid that she killed herself. She could have lived her life, maybe not happily, but she could of lived it for the both of them.

Overall, I would say that Juliet would fit in well with our generation nowadays. For her suicide, to her being a rebel. There are many ways that she would be okay to live here. She wouldn't get picked on, unless it was for her fashion of clothing.. Then she might. But other than that, she would be set. She wouldn't be judged to harsh I believe.

Adam Verses Ben

Author's Note: this is my third attempt to do my Conflict and Resolution .

The conflict of Deadly Little Lies by Laurie Stolarz is Adam  and Ben aren’t friends , anymore . They use to be best friends until a tragic thing happens , someone important to both of them ends winds up dead .  Typically this would be sad , and they would give each other comfort , right ? Wrong . They end up hating each other . They can't find a way to get along , nor a way to talk .

As the conflict begins,  Ben is being blamed by Adam for Julie's death, but really  Ben was just trying to find out more about what was going on behind his back about Julie and Adam, and in the process when Ben tried grabbing Julie's arm so she didn't fall off the cliff, she rejected his gesture and tried avoiding his hand and she backed up, causing her to fall to her death. Adam and Ben were devastated after Julie died, because they both loved her. Adam loved Julie just as much as Ben did. Because Adam thought he intentionally tried to kill her, he's been seeking revenge on Ben and will reek havoc on his life until Adam makes Ben feel what Julie felt when she died.

However, the conflict really starts to heat up when Adam starts to plan how to get revenge on Ben for Julie's death. Adam plans to take someone Ben loves and cares for from him , because that is what Ben did to him with Julie . Adam finds out where Ben's new location is , and follows him there .  Adam sees that Ben and Camelia are together and have strong feelings and since Adam now knows who Ben is connected with , Adam must take her away . Adam ends up working at the same pottery place as Camelia and Adam makes it seem like he's there for her , and she believes him . She begins to grow apart from Ben and closer to Adam . So Adam's plan must be working right? Wrong , he ends up falling for her .

In the end, the conflict isn't really resolved . Ben and Adam never forgave each other , they never made up , they can't seem to get along at all . The only connection they have is Camelia . Sadly , this only makes the tension between them worse .

As you can see, the resolution is nothing exciting, since they don't solve their problems and still aren't friends . They can't seem to get over the fact that history keeps repeating itself between them . They both end up falling for the same girl . That girl can't exactly chose with one they like more , so Ben and Adam are now fighting with each other for love , causing them to continuously hate each other . Looks like not every love story has a happy ending after all .

Trojan Horse

The conflict was that Helen married King Menelaus , but she fell in love with a guy in Troy . So she ran from Greek and ran to Troy . She caused a war , which was how this problem was resolved . Menelaus was mad to wake up with himself , no wife . She just disappeared in his eyes . So he took his soldiers' and took off to Troy . Once Menelaus found Helen , she lied and said she was kidnapped against her will . With her being the most beautiful woman on earth , and being his wife , he believed her .

Yes , something could happen like this nowadays . I believe it could go on anywhere really . School , job , hospital , anywhere . I don’t think that the people would take it to the extremes of a war , but maybe a fight .  I mean , fights about girls or guys happen a lot in this world . But usually not wars where they kill people . I haven't seen a war over a girl before , but I have seen fist fights over a girl in books , TV shows , and even real life . I don't know of anyone would kill for a girl , but there are people like that out there .

Who Am I ?

This fictional character, is a character who is best known as a masked monster. For example, he walks around with a machete killing every victim in his path. We got to look at it from everyone's point of view, What if he is just a guy with a really ugly face and wants to be a hedge trimmer…In the middle of the woods?  People make assumptions all the time about him, not even considering that there could possibly be a whole different perspective of him.

The reasoning for his strange ways is based on his history. When he was a young boy, he drowned in a lake by the name of Crystal Lake. He, not too long after that raised himself in the woods near the Lake's campsite where he had drowned.  He has been killed, buried, and resurrected himself so many countless times, yet he looks like he's never had a scratch on him.

He waits until an innocent victim comes wandering  through the woods or into the very lake where he drowned. He will nonchalantly wait from a distance, awaiting to avenge everyone that comes near the territory where he drowned so everyone else can feel the pain that he did and still does to this day. This character has a very unique way with his murders. He will let the night sky fall, and will start hinting to the victim. He would break sticks, step loud and purposefully on leaves or twigs to signal his coming. I didn’t say his name but he popped into your head, didn’t he? Who am I?

Deadly Little Lies

Author's Note: this is my second attempts revision on Conflict and Resolution .

(The conflict is the guy wants the girl, but he cant because he doesn’t want to hurt her.) 16 year old Camelia 's life was normal,  until she met Ben. Ben is a mysterious boy who was a suspect to his ex- girlfriend's death. Everyone else's opinion about Ben was that he was a murderer trying to cover up his tracks, but Camelia truly believed he didn't commit the crime and that he was innocent on the account of his ex-girlfriend's death.

First she doesn't believe it, nor does she want to. She thinks that it's just another prank the people in her school are playing. (The people in her school love to play pranks all the time.) Then something happens. Something Camelia wasn't expecting; at all. People had been saying that Ben was stalking this girl named Debbi, a quiet girl; yet popular one. Of course Camelia wasn't going to believe it. Honestly, what would you have done? Her school is full of people who start drama. Plus Ben is the new guy, who wouldn't want to start things with him?

Generally the thought that Ben was stalking Debbi just flew over Camelia 's head. Until she found out that Ben's ex- girlfriend did die, and Ben was there when it happened. But Ben says it was an accident. With Camelia liking him so much, and trusting him, she believed him. Then Debbi got hurt a couple months after those stalker rumors were started. Debbi ended up getting hit by a car, and put in a coma for awhile. Debbi said it was Ben. The only obstacle in Debbi's story, was that Ben was with Camelia that same night. As a matter of fact, he just left her house when Debbi got hit. Yes, there is a possibility that Ben could have done it; but Ben doesn't own a car, he owns a motorcycle.

Basically Ben is a special person… He has a very  special ability. It's called psychometry , this gives people the ability to see into the future, past, or present through touch. Now, Ben has had this for virtually his whole life, but the problem is, Ben still can't control it. Meaning, he can't control his power.

Next lets talk about the death of Ben's ex-girlfriend, Julia. Yes, Ben was there, and he kind of caused it. It was only because Ben couldn't control himself. When Julia and Ben where together, she was cheating on Ben with Ben's best friend. Julia kept it a secret from him. But it wasn't too long after she started that Ben found out. How did he find out you ask? It was because of his power. Ben and Julia were on a hike together, and then their skin collided. Ben touched her arm, and could see Julia and his best friend together. He was so eager to find out more, so he grabbed tighter. Which scared Julia, so she pried her arm from his hands. The problem was she spun around too much, and was too close to the edge. Ben reached out to grab her, but she was already falling to her death.

Finally Ben told Camelia this story, about Julia. And Camelia was also told about his special power. She thought it was cool, but everything became a little more clear to her. She figured out why Ben was never really in the hall during passing time, why he came into his classes later than others, and why Ben was never really around anyone. It was because he didn't want to see all those secrets people had, he didn't want to start drama for him, or for anyone. Camelia and Ben where together as a couple for a while, but than Ben couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't keep control of his power, his strength. He didn’t want her to get uncomfortable around him, and he certainly didn’t want to hurt Camelia like he did to Julia. So he broke it off with Camelia, no matter how much she meant to him. He didn’t want anything to happen to her.

(The resolution is Ben ends up regretting leaving her, but she has already started seeing someone else.) Imagine if you were in Ben's position, what would you have done? Do you think he made the right choice by breaking it off with her? Or do you think he should have stayed with her and tried to work things out together?

Short Response

The Hunger Games book was turned into a movie. I think that the music in the movie kind of set the mood of Danger and awareness.  When there is slow, clam music, it would mean everything is ok, there is nothing to really worry about.  When you have the faster, up-beat music, typically that means that there is some type of action going on.

The lighting  used set the mood of what time of day it was, and how it affected the people trying to survive. When it was dark out, you had to be more cautious; be more aware of your surroundings because it is not that easy to see in the dark. When it was light out, you still had to be concerned, but not as much as when it's dark.

The angle of the camera can give a sense of uneasiness. Like when Katnis was hallucinating, the camera was spinning, not focused too well, and it just helped you feel that she wasn't stable. When everything is normal, then camera is just basically standing still, not really adding too much intensity.

Society to Pilgrims Don't Wear Pink
Author's Note: this is my Text Analysis project. I decided to make it about Pilgrims Don't Wear Pink and Society Today.

In the book Pilgrims Don't Wear Pink, there's four characters that really stand out to me.  Libby, Ashling, Cameron, and Garret. What who you do if you had two guys fighting over your love? This is what Libby has to go through. Cameron and Garret both like Libby, and Libby doesn't know what to do. On the other hand,  Ashling is just a bully throughout the whole thing, but you always wonder why do the bullies, bully?

Bully. There's always that stereotype of the bully, the one who makes fun of people and also the one that nobody else likes. Ashling is the bully in this case. Sadly, when Libby first got to that historical day-to-day living museum, Ashling was the first to pounce. She didn't give anyone else a chance to judge, because Ashling always had to come first. The bad thing is, that Libby and Ashling were roommates.

One of the other stereotypes in this book is the new girl. In this case, her name is Libby. She's that new girl that everyone makes fun of. The one who doesn't really have any friends because, nobody wants to take a chance to ruin their reputation for some girl that just came. But just like every other new kid, she just wants to fit in. As in every story, this character progressively grows and becomes more important to the people around them. How does Libby grow?  Well she simply finds her way. She becomes friends with more people, and takes more chances.

Then there's always the stereotype of that super amazing guy that gets along with just about everyone. The one that every girl dreams of, and who can typically get any girl he wants.  Otherwise known as the popular guy. Cameron, is that guy. When Cameron first saw Libby, he fell for her. He absolutely wanted her. And she wanted him, well, all until one night.  The night of the Showdown. Cameron took Libby, but then ended up ditching her for his friend's. Just like every other girl, she got upset and didn't really want to talk to him. While Cameron loving her, he did everything in his power to try and redeem himself for ditching her that night. He would send her flowers, and say really cute Shakespeare lines to her. It all was working until she started to like someone else.

Garret. He is the typical nerdy guy who plays video games all the time. But he also has a twist to him, not really one that you would expect. He's kind of a bully, but really only to the girls he likes. So when he first met Libby in person, he was rude to her. He tried to make it seem like he had no feelings for her, and that he didn't need her in his life. But that's only what he showed, not how he actually felt. As the book progressed, he started to warm up towards her. Giving her signs that he really did have strong feelings. On the night of the Showdown, when Cameron left Libby, Garret and her 'accidently' ran into each other. Now the thing is, Libby wasn't used to this side of Garret, but she really liked it. He was there to listen, and he was there to try to give her advice on what she should do. Meanwhile, Libby started to like Garret back, and I guess you could say that it was a fairytale ending.  For everyone besides Cameron.

Poor Cameron was left alone. Heart broken. Nothing really to look up to for the day.  But he got through it right? Yes, he did. He found a way to live without Libby. Sounds kind of like Twilight to me. Jake was left alone, but he also ended up finding someone else. Does Cameron find another love? I guess you'll have to read it to find out!

The reason that those four specific characters stood out to me was because they remind me of the stereotypes that are always used in movies, books, and life itself.

Dreams
Author's Note: this is my figurative language essay.

Figurative Language is a really good way to add voice. Voice is a nice thing because it puts emotion and feeling into what your reading. That way, you can lure the reader in .

Metaphors are used in this poem two times. The metaphors are, "Life is a broken-winged bird" and "Life is a barren field." Those two phrases are metaphors because the author is writing life as if it was a broken-winged bird or a barren field. The over all tone that you get when you read these two, is depression. You get a sense of sadness and loneliness.  The way you can tell is because there isn't really anything happy or cheerful about a broken bird or an empty field. By the author using those two specific metaphors, you can kind of guess that his life isn't easy and that life isn't treating him as well as he would wish.

By the author using personification in this poem, it shows you that the author can look outside the box. Personification is giving human traits to something that isn't human; like an animal or something like that. So in the phrase "For if dreams die," you get a sense of worry. Like the author is worried about letting his dreams die down, otherwise known as waking up from a good dream that nobody would want to end. Even if it was better than you life is.

In the first stanza, it talks about how if his dreams die, then life would be a broken-winged bird. In other words, he is thinking that when he wakes up, he will be brought back to the miserable reality. I get a sense that he will come back to the world that might misunderstand him. One that he won't be able to accomplish anything in life because there is no sunlight.

In the second stanza, he is talking about that how if his dreams go, then he will come back to this barren field of life frozen in snow. How I take this is that he feels if his dreams end and he wakes up, its back to this empty life that isn't anything but horrible. There is no excitement what so ever. It’s just boring and empty.

Voice is the way to go when your writing because it is an upper level in writing. By using voice, your giving the reader the emotion that the character is feeling. By giving the reader this experience, it can really draw them into the book and not want to put it down.

Deadly Little Voices.
Author's Note: this is my second attempt to my Point of View. This time, I have decided to do it on my recent book, Deadly Little Voices.

Have you ever been eager to help someone out? Even though you know you haven't done them any good? Have you ever been warned by voices in your head? The voices are telling you something is going to go wrong, and you want to make it right?

Camellia has. Her whole teenage life has been nothing but a blur between reality and dreams. Lately, all her visions have been leading up to one thing, Danica. Camellia thinks that its her duty to protect Danica from any danger headed her way. As Camellia is trying to gather clues on what might happen to Danica, Danica refuses to talk to her. Danica's reason is Camellia was in the popular group called the Candies. One day the Candies went with some guys to Danica's house. The guys were calling out to Danica to have her come outside. When she stepped outside onto her porch, they attacked her with avocados. Camellia wasn't one of the people throwing them, but she feels  guilty because she just stood there and didn’t do anything to help her. Now Camellia is doing everything in her power to try to make it up to Danica by trying to save her.

This book is based on Camellia's point of view. When reading this book you see Camellia is a girl who is having a really hard time with coming to terms with the drastic change in her life, she is gaining new "powers" that allow her to see in the future. She is trying to help Danica but is not having any success. The reader can't see Danica's point of view. It's hard see Danica's feelings on how awkward it is to have some random girl she doesn’t know following her everywhere and not realizing the girl is just trying to help her. You can tell by the way Danica talks in the book that she is completely uncomfortable with Camellia stalking her .

Now, if the book was based on Danica's point of view, it would be a completely different story. Imagine what it would be like being in her shoes. She has this girl one day come to her house, school and job harassing her with many questions saying that she is in danger. How would you react to a stranger approaching you? Telling you that you are in danger! On top of it, everyone in school is talking about how crazy Camellia is.

As you can tell, the point of view in this book depends on the opinion of the readers. This book can change people's perspectives a lot regarding different situations. As the point of view changes, so does the story. Camellia and Danica are different people, with completely different thoughts on things in life. Camellia thinks she's helping,  but Danica thinks she crazy. What would you think if you were in either one of these girls shoes?

Love.

Author's Note: This is a creative essay I wrote, and the topic I chose was love.

Love is a very interesting thing. It could be looked at in different ways, different perspectives. People have different experiences with love. Some good, some bad, some are just confusing. I won't lie, love is a strange thing.

A way that love is bad is when you have those wonderful heart-breaks. I'm sure most people have had plenty of those. The thing that sucks about it the most is that if you have strong feelings for someone, and then they break your heart, your completely crushed. Now, in movies heartbreaks are so depressing, and all you do is sit around in your room watching love movies and eating chocolate. Which could be true, but it is also a little exaggerating. Yes, people cry or sit around like a zombie for awhile, trying to figure out what they did wrong. They might also watch the movies and eat fatting foods. But, only until reality slaps them in their face, telling them to pull it together. Heartbreaks are not easy, but they make you stronger and more careful; which I would say is a good thing. For your next relationship, your going to have more red lights, and wait longer for 'taking it to the next level.' In which case, if you do get dumped again, you'll still be hurt but it won’t as bad as it was before.

The good thing about love is feeling loved. When you think you've found someone that's right for you, everything they do is sweet. The cute messaging/ conversations, the cute little stuffed animals, cute roses and with every moment you spend with them, you don’t want it to ever end. One of the best things about love is when you think you've found someone you might actually want to spend the rest of your life with, you get this feeling when your with them that makes your feel like you are the most awesome person to have someone that loves you for you. You love how they make you feel good about yourself, instead of all those other jerks that would always put you done. You feel wonderful that you have someone to lean on when your having a bad day. If feels good to you knowing that someone actually cares about you. It makes you feel good that you don’t have to keep wondering if he means it, or if he's lying because you already know the answer.

Love is definitely a interesting thing. People constantly go through it; it just depends on if it’s for the better or worse. Love can either stay with you for the rest of your life or never be there. Love is not something you need its something you want.

Comparison of Hunger Games to North America.

Author's Note: for my compare and contrast essay I decided to compare Hunger Games with the US.

As time  passes, things change. There is many things that have changed since the hunger games. For example, if you were to compare the knowledge of people from then to people now, we would probably have more education. Now a days we have more technology and different style of clothes, that they never had back then. Which might not always be a good thing..

Back then, they knew how to appreciate things they had. They would be happy with a loaf of bread to feed their whole family for a couple of days. Compared to now we have vegetables or fruits, meats, and grain for one meal. People back then would die (figure of speech) to go on a 'shopping spree' for clothes. Then you have people these days whine for 'not having enough of clothes' even though they have a closet full. Back then they weren't able to bath every day, now we can; which I guess is a good thing.. So I guess you could say we all have our ups and downs.

Like war, it's one way Hunger Games and the USA are similar. The only difference is the way it comes to a decision vs. being chosen for you.  In the Hunger Games, the day of the reaping must be one of the most 'cliff-hanging' moments of your life. This reaping was mandatory, and you had no choice if you wanted to go in war or not. Everyone's name (ages 12 and older) was put in a bowl. Separated by gender, but they would pick one name from each bowl. So there would always be one girl, and one boy who were picked and had to battle against 23 other people. 22 of them from other districts, one from being in your own district. Obviously there were no rules nor where there lines that could be crossed. It was a game that they recorded onto a TV show. The game was all about killing others, and making you survive.

When it comes to the USA, it is no longer mandatory for people to go to war. If you want to enlist in the military you have to be at least 18 or older. It also depends on your health if you get into the military. In regards to your health, most minor health issues are except able under curtain guidelines. Our wars these days aren't recorded TV show. Meaning, they don’t have cameras hiding in trees and people deciding what happens next. They don’t expect you to kill every last person in order to win the war. As a matter of fact, they want you guys to protect each other and not leave anyone behind.

Or education/ schooling. Its another thing Hunger Games and US have in common. One way is the style of teaching, knowing that they didn’t have technology back then, the kids probably learned the 'old-fashioned way'. When the teachers is standing up in front of the class and writing on the chalkboard. Maybe the kids of the Hunger Games time learned about different topics, like hunting. Hunting isn't easy with out some knowledge about angles, math, and timing. To be able to hunt as well as they do, you got to know when the right timing is and what angel to point your weapon.

Granted, it may be a completely different type of education, but it still counts. Now, our kind of education is similar, because MOST schools have a teacher in front of the class teaching.

                                                                           Point of View                                                                                          .
Author's Note: this is an essay talking about one book, from two different people's point of view. This is my Point Of View Essay.

In Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink by Stephanie Kate Strohm, the point of view is based off of Libby, the main character. Now, I believe that if the book was based on someone else's point of view from the story, the whole plot and book be completely different. There might be some similarities, but I don’t think anything will be exactly alike.

Libby is a girl who left her house, best friend, and life behind so she could go to a historical museum for the summer. It was hard to leave, but she thought she should go to 'better her education.' When she gets there, she feels left out, like loner or somebody who doesn’t belong there. There is only  two people she gets along with, Suze and Cam. Suze and Cam were the only people who Libby got along with. Ashling and Garret are the complete opposite.

By the book being in Libby's perspective, they might interoperate that Garret is just some idiot guy. He doesn’t have a goal in life. That Garret's just some guy that sits on his couch and plays video games. And that she is just some angel, and she's so innocent. If we saw it from Garret's point of view, then we might see how good of a person he is. And hoe Libby didn't even give him a chance. That Libby was just another blonde that doesn’t know anything at all. He probably sees her as a distraction.

I believe the story would be different from  Garret's point of view. Because by the book only being in Libby's point of view, we are only seeing one side of the story. If the book were to be on Garret's side, it would be different. Like different opinions, different perspectives of stuff. One of the reason's they would have different opinions on people and stuff, is because they are two different people. Another is because I think Garret has known the people at the museum longer, so he could possibly have years of reason's why he doesn’t like them or it.

So, the overall reason why Pilgrim's Don’t Wear Pink would be a different story form different points of view;  is simply because everyone is different In their own ways. People see things differently than others. Not everything is going to be the same.

When Libby got called down to the room for the staff meeting, she didn’t know what to think. She had absolutely no idea what that was about.  When she got there, things had to settle down before the Manager started talking. That was when she first saw/  meet Garret. At first she didn't like him, she thought he was a no good writer who is just full of himself. Then the best part came up, guess who Libby had to spend the rest of the summer with..? Garret. But part of her was happy that it happened because it got her out of her other place with Ashling. Libby and Garret had to move in to the boat for a story Garret was going to write about real life ghost sightings. Libby was not happy, but at the same time she was jumping for joy because that way she didn't have to deal with Ashling's drama. Before she completely gave up, she decided to give him a chance. At first, he wasn’t making that be possible. But after the showdown, they became, kind of like.. Friends. They didn’t hate each other anymore. Libby started to talk to him and spend more time with him.

Now if this was put in Garret's perspective, it would be different. Now, when the meeting was held, when he saw Libby, he thought she was just this stupid blonde who doesn't know anything about history and stuff. When the Manager announced that they were going to be spending the rest of the summer together, he wasn't angry or he didn’t think his whole summer was ruined. He was a little upset, all up until he got to know her. As soon as a little bit of time passed, he feel for her. Garret became all sensitive and started to be sweet towards her.
