Point of View
.
Author's Note: this
is an essay talking about one book, from two different people's point of view.
This is my Point Of View Essay.
In Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink by Stephanie
Kate Strohm, the point of view is based off of Libby, the main character. Now,
I believe that if the book was based on someone else's point of view from the
story, the whole plot and book be completely different. There might be some
similarities, but I don’t think anything will be exactly alike.
Libby is a girl who
left her house, best friend, and life behind so she could go to a historical
museum for the summer. It was hard to leave, but she thought she should go to
'better her education.' When she gets there, she feels left out, like loner or somebody
who doesn’t belong there. There is only
two people she gets along with, Suze and Cam. Suze and Cam were the only
people who Libby got along with. Ashling and Garret are the complete opposite.
By the book being in
Libby's perspective, they might interoperate that Garret is just some idiot
guy. He doesn’t have a goal in life. That Garret's just some guy that sits on
his couch and plays video games. And that she is just some angel, and she's so innocent.
If we saw it from Garret's point of view, then we might see how good of a
person he is. And hoe Libby didn't even give him a chance. That Libby was just
another blonde that doesn’t know anything at all. He probably sees her as a
distraction.
I believe the story
would be different from Garret's point
of view. Because by the book only being in Libby's point of view, we are only
seeing one side of the story. If the book were to be on Garret's side, it would
be different. Like different opinions, different perspectives of stuff. One of
the reason's they would have different opinions on people and stuff, is because
they are two different people. Another is because I think Garret has known the
people at the museum longer, so he could possibly have years of reason's why he
doesn’t like them or it.
So, the overall
reason why Pilgrim's Don’t Wear Pink would be a different story form different
points of view; is simply because
everyone is different In their own ways. People see things differently than
others. Not everything is going to be the same.
When Libby got called down to the
room for the staff meeting, she didn’t know what to think. She had absolutely
no idea what that was about. When she
got there, things had to settle down before the Manager started talking. That
was when she first saw/ meet Garret. At
first she didn't like him, she thought he was a no good writer who is just full
of himself. Then the best part came up, guess who Libby had to spend the rest
of the summer with..? Garret. But part of her was happy that it happened
because it got her out of her other place with Ashling. Libby and Garret had to
move in to the boat for a story Garret was going to write about real life ghost
sightings. Libby was not happy, but at the same time she was jumping for joy
because that way she didn't have to deal with Ashling's drama. Before she
completely gave up, she decided to give him a chance. At first, he wasn’t
making that be possible. But after the showdown, they became, kind of like..
Friends. They didn’t hate each other anymore. Libby started to talk to him and
spend more time with him.
Now if this was put in Garret's
perspective, it would be different. Now, when the meeting was held, when he saw
Libby, he thought she was just this stupid blonde who doesn't know anything
about history and stuff. When the Manager announced that they were going to be
spending the rest of the summer together, he wasn't angry or he didn’t think
his whole summer was ruined. He was a little upset, all up until he got to know
her. As soon as a little bit of time passed, he feel for her. Garret became all
sensitive and started to be sweet towards her.
